Ereaders, the ipad-is that all there is?
The device industry is blowing a great opportunity to revolutionize reading

Current ereading is just about physical looks, not about the way to dercribe and share contents.

beyond the revel of the reinvetion, such as page animations, touch screens, future fictions in ebooks format would not be finished forever, they could be shared, revised continually, like wiki.

the concept of books may be transformed entirely?

There are already many similar examples: Paulo Conelho writed his works via websites and did interaction with readers online, and many internet novel authors have written online with communications with readers for a long time.
So far, internet novels have had a tendency to be treated as reading jus for chicks. But, it is becoming recognized new readings since social networkings raise.

Then with growing new tech-devices, it's time to consider new conceopt of a book .

Korean academic libraries.

Today, I interviewed with an academic librarian in Korea. He is working for Sungkyunkwan University, which I graduated from. To be honest, (not intend to show off) Sungkyunkwan University is one of top ranking universities and quite famous for Library and Information Science. Even though it is, he takes a negative look on roles of library and librarians in Korea.
Details about what he said will be uploaded to Interview assignment section. But there are few things I just want to mention.

This is how the library looks :

The university renovated library building recently. (Actually, not only this university but also other famous universities in Korea also renovated their library building dramatically like a kind of trend - it may, because they wanted to look like "Digital Library with the cutting edge of tech". )

But, they only focused on physical improvement such as more computers, fancy buildings, spacious and comfort reading room and digital newspaper booth. When it comes to resources including human resources, it was hardly changed - and administrative system also relatively unchanged.

I felt really bad about it, I understand every employee may not be satisfied entirely by their job. But, his concerns about his roles was really, seriously, too severe. Korea students have been educated by cramming method of teaching for a long time. Even though it is getting a little better, many high school students study in excessive competition in entrance examinations for a better university and many university students study just for getting a job in conglomerate or public enterprise. They almost have not done their own research, they may not be familiar with self active studying so a library descend to a place for not searching information but their private reading or studying.

If you read my interview, you could know how badly he think about the current situation in Korean library.
I will upload my work soon, because due date coming!! :) but I have to translate the contents so it'll take a few days, ha ha ha

I'm just curious about a few questions.
And trying to figure out the answers through this semester or whole master's program.

Q1.People can make a better decision with much more, wider information..

the thing is how can people maintain a balance on many information they have,,,

What if they just have a bunch of biased data?

Q2.a good librarian solve a problem for needs of community...

Is a librarian really an expert?.. they are sort of an information manager ? restricted by the organization? or an administrator of the organization?

The very first day in IST 511

I’ve studied LIS in bachelor’s program in Korea.

Taking LIS classes, I’ve experienced the difference between studying with enough Information sources and with none, the difference had effects on credibility, accurateness, and opportunities to broaden views.

Before that, I didn’t know where I can find resources for studying, but I thought that, for sure, somewhere good, amazing, and even perfect information is there. Because this is Information age that let you know whatever you want!

Yet, I could not find them, and did not know how to find, then started to be suspicious that they really exist.

However,
Learning about various database, journals, reference books, and etc in a library, it made a big difference in my research process, in thinking process, and in results too.
The experiences motivated me to think about what Information literacy is, how important it is, and how to share it.

Yesterday 511 class, remind me what I should dedicate to.

Mission: to improve society through facilitating knowledge creation in their communities.
Wow, I really impressed by that mission.

'God helps those who help themselves'
'Way is everywhere'

If you want something, you will find the way to get it, and you will finally get it.
I think the way is information, and it could be from person, from group, from any kind of sources.

Now, Economic gap may come from use of information. That’s why librarianship getting more important, I think.

Even though, not in a physical library, librarianship has to alive.

Long and messy writing and lots of wrong grammar, But It’s my blog!! I just want to write what I’ve thought down. May be, I regret to write this like whenever I read my private diary, my face turns red.

See everyone next Wednesday!!!
